Give the Gift of a Steam Adventure This Father’s Day

Looking for a unique Father’s Day gift? Treat Dad to an unforgettable adventure aboard a vintage steam train on Saturday 14 June. Join us for The Jolly Fisherman, a nostalgic journey that takes you from London to the beautiful seaside resort of Skegness. This special tour, inspired by the famous excursion once planned by the Great Northern Railway, offers a day filled with charm, breathtaking landscapes, and all the excitement of steam-powered travel.
Step aboard a steam-hauled train at London King’s Cross and embark on an unforgettable journey to the east coast. Starting with a ride along the East Coast Main Line (ECML), this trip offers both contrasting countryside and stunning coastal views, making it the ideal way to celebrate Father’s Day with Dad.
The Seaside adventure
As we near Boston - home to the towering ‘Boston Stump’ - we switch to diesel for the final stretch through East Lincolnshire’s peaceful landscapes. The line to Skegness is calm and rural, offering a relaxing ride to the coast.
We’ll make a stop at Wainfleet, a charming town known for its Batemans Brewery Visitors Centre.
Time at Skegness
In Skegness, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the classic seaside. Wander the promenade, visit the clock tower, snap a photo with the Jolly Fisherman statue, or simply soak up the fresh sea air. There are also plenty of shops and cafés to visit.
The Return Journey
After a laid-back afternoon, we’ll head back through Sleaford and Grantham to rejoin the East Coast Main Line. We can expect some spirited running from our steam locomotive as it leads the way towards London, bringing an exhilarating end to a memorable day out with Dad.
Book now and make this Father’s Day one to remember with a vintage train experience on The Jolly Fisherman!
