Experience Benešov Steam Festival

We’re delighted to announce that the magnificent 241 A 65 ‘Mountain’ from 1931 will be the star guest at the Benešov Steam Festival - the signature attraction of our Czech Autumn Steam Gala tour.
241 A 65 is the last operational member of its class and the largest hand-fired steam locomotive in Europe. It was also used in the filming of the 2017 remake of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express!
It will haul the inaugural 'Protocol Train' of the Benešov Steam Festival on Friday 18 September 2026. This main line steam special will follow a splendid route, covering extremely rare track in South Bohemia.
As of 2027, the busy corridors used by this event will be fitted with ETCS signalling and will no longer be practically accessible to steam locomotives, so make sure you don’t miss what could be the final opportunity to experience this popular steam festival.
