Travel Behind the Iconic A1 Tornado This Summer!

This summer, prepare to embark on an unforgettable rail journey aboard the iconic LNER Peppercorn Class A1 No. 60163 Tornado. This magnificent steam engine will be hauling a selection of our day trips, offering you a chance to step back in time and experience the golden age of rail travel in style.
The Tornado Legacy
Designed in the 1940s by Arthur Peppercorn, the A1 Class locomotives were intended to be the epitome of steam engineering. The advent of diesel engines in the 1960s led to the gradual withdrawal of the A1s, and the last of them were sadly scrapped. However, Tornado, completed in 2008 after years of construction following the original specifications of Peppercorn’s design, carries forward the legacy of these incredible machines. With its stunning appearance and rich history, Tornado has become a true star on the tracks. Every journey behind Tornado is more than just a train ride - it’s a journey through time.
