Our worldwide tours feature visits to India, North and South America, Sri Lanka, Japan and New Zealand.
“Railways of the Raj” visits India, a country rich in culture and heritage with many reminders of the British Raj (reign). We travel on narrow gauge railways to visit Hill Stations, often using specially chartered steam trains, including the world famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. We visit the foothills of the Himalayas, areas of outstanding natural beauty, and important historic, religious, and cultural sites. A memorable and unforgettable experience awaits those who join this tour.
We return to North America with “Canada & the Inside Passage Cruise”. This combines travelling east to west across Canada by train with a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska. We travel on the famous “Ocean” and “Canadian” trains, crossing the Prairies and the world famous Rocky Mountains, where the railway routes are amongst the most beautiful in the world. We spend time in the cities of Toronto and Vancouver. The cruise of the Inside Passage follows the rocky coastline; provides glimpses of the world’s most undisturbed landscapes; take you wonderfully close to glaciers; and offers opportunities to see rare wildlife. This is a trip of a lifetime
The “Andes of Colombia & Ecuador” tours two of the less well known countries of South America that are dominated by the Andes Mountains. We visit major cities such as Bogotá in Colombia and Quito in Ecuador. We use specially chartered trains, with steam haulage wherever possible, to travel to and through the Andes Mountains, including climbing the world-famous ‘Devils Nose’. There will be many opportunities for filming and photographing spectacular scenery, historic heritage, and unusual highlights.
“Peru & Bolivia” is a real cultural Andean feast. It visits the world famous Inca site at Machu Picchu; tours Cusco, the ancient capital of the Incas; and cruises on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. It also includes travel by train over much of Peru’s railway system and on the ‘Expreso del Sur’, one of Bolivia’s few passenger trains.
“South American Adventure” is an extraordinary tour to Argentina and Chile. It includes travel by train through the Andes Mountains and crossing the Patagonian lakes by boat. A major highlight is travelling through the wilderness to Esquel, deep in Patagonia, on the “Old Patagonian Express” steam train. There will be opportunities to view the colonial heritage which is much in evidence in the towns & cities.
Looking ahead to 2016, we have tours planned to Sri Lanka, Japan and New Zealand. In Sri Lanka, we explore many of the most attractive parts of the island by the “Viceroy Special”, specially chartered steam train. We travel extensively on Japan's high speed railway network using the famous ‘Bullet Train’ and by steam trains, mostly over parts of the national network.
